Embracing the Divine in All: Recognising Light Within Shadow

Some recent conversations about evil spirits or malign entities have prompted me to reflect on my own beliefs regarding the nature of darkness and light. While some may perceive these forces as inherently evil, I’ve always viewed the darker aspects of life not as evil, but as expressions of separation from the Divine. My views are deeply personal, and within the context of QHHT, your beliefs need not align with mine for the practice to be effective. This post is simply an exploration of my thoughts, not a declaration of absolute truth.
I’ve tended not to believe in the existence of evil in the traditional sense, but rather in the concept of light and the absence of light. In Neale Donald Walsch’s parable Little Soul and the Sun, a young soul seeks to experience forgiveness to understand itself as the "Light." God explains that for forgiveness to be learned, another soul must play the role of "darkness." One soul volunteers, knowing it will be perceived negatively, yet this act demonstrates that all souls are divine, even those playing difficult roles in life.
Paul Selig’s Guides expand on this idea by suggesting that battling unseen forces is futile, as darkness is merely a product of separation from the Divine. To return to the light, it’s simply a matter of remembering who and what we truly are. The Guides explain that negative energies are residual aspects of past choices and lower vibrations. These energies aren’t fought; instead, they are lifted to higher vibrations where they are reconciled and reclaimed. Ultimately, nothing is more powerful than the true nature of the Divine, and as we raise our vibration, we transcend the influence of these lower energies.
Negative entities, therefore, can be seen as manifestations of our own inner state, much like physical illnesses. Just as negative emotions can manifest in the body as a sore shoulder, a cold, or even cancer, they might also manifest externally as perceived malign entities, if that aligns with one’s belief system. In this view, these manifestations are simply products of our separation from the Divine.
What we conceive as negative might not be so if viewed from a higher perspective. As discussed in a previous post, Julia Cannon's Soul Speak explores how every ache, pain, and symptom serves as a message from the body, conveying important guidance from our higher selves. Julia explains that our higher selves are always in communication with us, nudging us along the path of personal growth. Physical discomfort is one of the more common ways this guidance appears, but for those who believe in evil or foreign entities, this belief might manifest as external forces. However, for those who do not hold such beliefs, these entities would not be an effective way for the higher self to capture attention.
In the end, whether we view negative energies as external forces, physical manifestations, or simply as products of our separation from the Divine, what matters most is how we choose to engage with these experiences. Our beliefs shape our reality, and whether or not we perceive malign entities or negative energies, the path back to wholeness lies in remembering our true nature and raising our vibration. By cultivating self-awareness and openness, we allow ourselves to reclaim our power, heal, and reconnect with the light that resides within us. Ultimately, it is our personal journey, shaped by our own beliefs and experiences, that guides our spiritual evolution.
In recognising that everything is divine, even those aspects of life we deem negative or harmful, we come to understand a profound truth: nothing exists outside of the light, the Divine, or God. Experiences, people, illness, and even entities we perceive as malevolent are all part of this sacred whole. This perspective doesn’t require us to condone or accept harmful behaviour, nor does it mean we passively accept injustice. Instead, it invites us to see beyond surface appearances and understand that all things—whether light or shadow—are part of the greater, divine experience.
When we stop trying to force these darker elements to "become good" and instead recognise their inherent connection to the Divine, we elevate their frequency. We see them not as separate or opposed to the light, but as integral parts of the same light. This shift in awareness doesn't mean we need to condone every action or experience; it simply asks us to acknowledge their place within the larger cosmic plan. By doing so, we move from a mindset of conflict or resistance to one of inclusion and transcendence.
Ultimately, the journey is not about fighting or eradicating darkness, but about remembering that everything, even the shadows, belongs to the light. Through this lens, we heal, reclaim our power, and evolve spiritually by embracing all that is.
